Our school, Woodland Elementary, is located in the scenic town of Dildo, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland which is approximately 100 kilometers from the capital city of St. John's. Our students come from the communities of Blaketown, Broad Cove, New Harbour, Old Shop, and South Dildo.

We are a K-6 school which offers a variety of extracurricular activities to our students because we believe in the education of the whole child. We are also dedicated to creating a safe, healthy and positive environment for teaching and learning for all of our children and staff.

Immunization Plan:

Thank you for all who sent in your consent forms. As the vaccination date gets closer, you will be informed as to a timeframe of when your child will receive their needle. Parents/guardians do have the option to enter the building to accompany your child, if you wish.

Scholastic Book Fair:

We are very pleased to report that we raised at total of $3,128.71 for our learning commons (library). This would not be possible without your support. Thank you!

Christmas Break:

The last day for students before Christmas break is December 22nd. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 p.m.

The first day back in January is Tuesday the 4th.

Christmas Concert:

Once again this year we are not permitted to have an in-person Christmas concert. However, we will be having a virtual one for primary (k-3) and elementary (4-6). Once the concerts are finalized a date will be sent home as to when the concerts will be published.

12 Days of Christmas:

Please find attached “Woodland Elementary 12 Days of Christmas’. It will begin on Dec. 7th and end on the 22nd. Reminders will be sent out on our Facebook page!

We are having some issues on our buses with having students either remove their mask or partially remove it. They have been reminded constantly but it still remains an issue. Please have a conversation with your child about the importance of wearing their masks appropriately at all times.

Congratulations to Lola Woodman, in Grade 3, for winning a week’s worth of free lunch meals. If you order a lunch throughout the week, your child’s name gets entered for a draw for free meals for a week!

Please Note: If you have an order submitted either online or sent to school and your child is absent or goes home sick, it is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to inform the school or cafeteria ladies to cancel your order for that day. If it is cancelled in time, they will receive the order the next day, however; if the order is not cancelled and the food is prepared they will not receive the order the next day.
